Acadian Archives/Archives acadiennes
This collection includes materials which document the culture, way of life and history of the Upper St. John Valley. This collection is housed in the new Acadian Archives/Archives acadiennes building adjacent to Blake Library. For more information on this collection, please contact the Archives.

DVD'sAudio-Visual Materials
The Library has a growing collection of DVD's, videocassettes, CDs, and audio cassettes. The videos, DVD's, and Music CDs may be checked out for three days; the loan period for audio books on cassettes or CD's is one week. Viewing and listening equipment is available in the Library. For a complete list of our video collection go to our video list web page. If you are looking for a particular video or other audio-visual materials or you are looking for audio-visual materials by a particular subject, simply use URSUS, our online catalog, to find what you want.

CD's, DVD's, VHS Checkout: Three days and no renewals
Audio Books on CD and Tape Checkout: One week and one week renewal

In addition, patrons have access to audio books from the Download Library. These can be downloaded to compatible devices. You will either need your library or Bengal Badge barcode or you will need to create an account.

Circulating Collection
The majority of the Library's book holdings are in the circulating collection. The shelves where these books are located are called 'the stacks'. These materials may be checked out for four weeks to students and community patrons, and by semester to faculty and staff.

Curriculum Center Collection
This collection includes items for education students and teachers such as textbooks, manipulatives and other classroom materials. These items circulate for one week at a time to all patrons. For more information, please see our Curriculum Collection Development Policy.

Through consortial agreements and other means Students, faculty, and staff have access to both academic and pleasure ebook collections. Academic titles are found by searching URSUS, our online catalog. The books in the retrieved lists that say "ebook" will be the ones you can view on the computer and some are available to download to an ereader device. The state Download Library provides access to fiction and non-fiction ebooks available to read on your computer or on an ereader device. Both require the use of your Bengal Badge barcode and/or an additional login account. Community patrons have access off campus to the Download Library only.

Juvenile Collection
The Juvenile Collection is located in the education center. and includes materials for young readers. These materials circulate to students and community patrons for two weeks, and to faculty and staff by semester.

Periodical Collection
Articles in periodicals may be found by searching OneSearch or using individual online databases. Current issues of periodicals are displayed on the first floor. Ask for assistance at the Front Desk to obtain past issues. You can find a list of our print titles HERE and a search our online titles HERE. Students, Faculty, and staff may check out periodicals for one week. Faculty and staff may request certain periodicals be routed to them. Contact Brenda Pelletier for more details.

Reference Collection
The Reference Collection includes books of highly organized factual information such as dictionaries and encyclopedias. These items do not circulate, but faculty may make special arrangements to borrow reference materials when necessary.

In addition, students, faculty, and staff have access to an electronic reference collection called CREDO. It is found on the front page of the library web site. It is a collection of electronic encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbooks, and other reference resources.

Special Collections
Blake Library Special Collections collects and provides access to historically significant materials pertaining to the university and its history, Aroostook County, the Dickey-Lincoln School project, and Maine history as it pertains to Aroostook County and its communities.As a repository for both published materials and manuscript collections relating directly to the department's mission statement, Special Collections serves the University of Maine at Fort Kent community of faculty, administration, students and alumni, the University of Maine System, and the greater community, including scholars and researchers.

Blake Library Special Collections is open to the public but is only accessible through contact with library staff. All Special Collections materials are non-circulating; faculty desiring materials for classroom use should contact a staff member.

Young Adult Collection
The Library has a Young Adult section for materials suited to adolescents and mature young readers. Young Adult books circulate for a period of four weeks to all patrons and are located in the education center.
