At 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4th in the Bengal's Lair, Blake Library held the second event in their Focus on Faculty series.
Assistant Professor of Nursing and Director of the Division of Nursing, Erin Soucy, presented on her Ph.D. dissertation, "The Effects of High-Fidelity Simulators on Nursing Student' Critical Thinking and Self-Confidence."
This topic directly relates to the University of Maine at Fort Kent's Nursing program, as the department purchased a neonatal human patient simulator in 2008 through a Davis Education Foundation grant. Professor Soucy discussed her research and study findings on whether the use of human patient simulators as an augmenting teaching tool affects the nursing students' critical thinking skills and feelings of self-confidence.
The hour-long presentation included time for students to ask questions and learn more about both the topic and the dissertation-writing process.
