Community COVID Guidelines

Please be advised that there are still a few stipulations:

  1. Community must have a vaccination card to show proof of vaccination.
  2. Children ages 0-4 (who are not currently able to be vaccinated), are not required to have proof of vaccination.
  3. The entrance to the library is the Quad Entrance, which faces Cyr Hall. (Map)

Regarding masks:

Community are no longer required to wear masks In Blake Library. Masks are now optional. (If you would be more comfortable with library staff wearing a mask when helping you, please let us know. We are more than happy to accommodate)

In general, face coverings are optional and welcomed across the University of Maine System, indoors and outdoors, for all persons – students, staff, faculty and visitors.

However, there are important exceptions when face coverings are or may still be required. Visitors are asked always to have an appropriate face covering available and to be prepared to wear it if required or requested to do so when at a University.

Some circumstances (related to the library) still may require a mask:

  • Face coverings continue to be required when a person or persons are visiting an individual office space unless the primary occupant of the space or host of the meeting waives the requirement.
  • Face coverings continue to be required when recommended by the U.S. CDC in connection with exposure to or during recovery from a confirmed positive case of COVID-19.
  • Face coverings may continue to be required by organizers of specific events or activities indoors or outdoors as determined by the organizing authority. Individuals should be prepared to wear a face covering if requested to do so.

For more information about when face coverings may continue to be required – for example, at indoor University events that are open to the general public – please see the student or employee sections of the following web site where additional face covering details are provided.
